SUBJECT: Orange Micro announces the worlds first USB 2.0 web cam
Anaheim, CA USB 1.1 web cams are very popular, but they have always had a significant drawbackthroughput. The current USB 1.1 is only 12 megabits per second, and thats a huge problem if you are trying to do 30 frames per second, or full sized pictures (640 x 480 resolution), or full color. Compression helps a little, but in the end, you sacrifice quality.
Enter the iBOT2. The worlds first USB 2.0 based web cam from Orange Micro. It has 40 times the throughput as todays USB 1.1 web cams. The iBOT2 runs at 30 frames per second, 640 x 480 resolution, millions of colors uncompressed and all at the same time. The quality of iBOT video is a quantum leap over current USB 1.1 web cams because of a 4000% increase in bandwidth.
